This blog will be mainly focused on my own experiences with computers and software. Both I am using now purely as a user and hobbyist. Also I comment on interesting news about ICT, privacy and combinations of both.

Applied Micro leaps ahead in ARM server race
Not exactly old dads ARMy are the serverclass ARM processors which Applied Micro is cooking according to The Register. Applied Micro has been cooperating with ARM on this ARMv8 64 bit serverchip for a while and will be as early as mid 2012 on the market. A half year or more ahead of the products based on the ARM reference design that will appear end of 2012 and further. Details of the new chip are very promising: speedy, coherent L3 cache and speedy interconnects too. A single competitor as AMD could not stand against Intel but a ARMy of manufacturers with this kind of processor will be a real challenge. The answer of Intel to this challenge will be very interesting.
